Indian railroads were divided into 18 zones after the southern coast railway joined the list on 27 July 2019. Every zona has its divisions and divisional headquarters.
There are 68 divisions in the railway zones in India. Each division of railways headed by DRM and GM. The DRM is assisted by ADRM (additional divisional railway manager). And DRM (divisional railway manager) has to manage all types of departments and control rooms in their divisions.
Every division has its separate control rooms. The control room works for all trains management and monitoring.
There are types of control room like engineering control and mechanical control etc. These control rooms coordinate with the operating room and the control room managed by DRM of their divisions.

1. Central railway –

Central railway has a record of operating the first passenger railway line in India. Which opened from Mumbai to Thane on 16 April 1853. Its headquarter is situated in Mumbai.
2. Eastern railway –
Eastern railways headquarter is in Kolkata. It established on 14 April 1952. It has a length of 1751.32 miles. It located in West Bengal and Jharkhand.
3. East coast railway –
It is situated in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. It’s operated in April 2003. Its headquarter is in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
4. East-central railway –
This railway zone is located in Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. This railway zone founded on 8 September 1996.
5. Northcentral railway –
It has a total length of 3,062km. The largest railway station in the north-central railway is Kanpur central.
6. Northern railway –
Northern railway zone established in 1952. In term, of length, it remains the largest railway zone in India.
7. North frontier railway –
Its headquarters is in maligaon, Guwahati. The date of its operation is 1958
8. Northeastern railway –
NER is one of the 18 railway zones in India. Its headquarters is in Gorakhpur.

It came into effect in October 2002.

Kolkata metros dream plan came to local in 1990. Work for Kolkata metro started in 1970. The project complete and came to power in 1984. Its west corridor made in 2020.
